You will write a persuasive introduction on a current health issue of public health importance.  The introduction should make a clear case for why your specific topic is important. All claims must be backed with evidence. The text should lead to a clear argument about who can use the findings from the public health issue brief and how. The introduction should also include a clear statement of purpose that identifies the specific area of literature that will be reviewed in your brief.  You will also attach the citations and abstracts of 3 peer-reviewed journal articles that you plan on using for the review portion of your brief. This will ensure that your topic is viable based on the current literature and that you can locate relevant peer-reviewed journal articles. 

You are writing only the introduction of the full brief at this time. Evidence for the introduction can come from multiple types of sources; you do not need to rely on only the 3 peer-reviewed journal articles for this section. At this time, you are only being asked to attach the citations and abstracts for those 3 peer-reviewed articles that you plan to use in the Literature Review portion of your brief.

This assignment should be formatted according to APA style. It should consist of a correctly formatted cover page, the introduction itself and the citations for 3 peer-reviewed articles, each citation followed by the abstract (not re-written, but the original from the source). The last page of the document should be your reference list, formatted according to APA style, including any references used in the introduction. The introduction itself should not be longer than 1-1 ½ pages in length. Upload your assignment through Canvas as a Word attachment (in the appropriate lesson week).
